THE MODERATOR'S MESSAGE

Paul wrote to the First Congregational Church of Corinth some very important words, words which have meaning today as we consider the plans and programs of the National Association of Congregational Christian Churches. "There are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of working, but it is the same God who inspires them all in every one." (I Corinthians 12:4, 5. RSV)

This situation is part of the challenge and excitment of being a part of the National Association fellowship. Our member churches and our church members do not conform to any single stereotype or reflect any single position.

One thing brought us together: our strong desire to worship God in freedom of conscience and to strengthen the churches and persons so committed.

One thing will keep us together: a renewal of our original intention enchanced by our respect for differences and our wilhngness to walk together "in the ways of the Lord, made known or to be made known to us."

Let us place at the disposal of our churches all these varieties of gifts, of service and of work which will encourage us to build an even stronger and more vital fellowship for the years to come.

Erwin A. Britton

FROM THE EXECUTIVE SECRETARY

This YEARBOOK is produced in the offices of the National Association from information submitted voluntarily by the member Churches. It is timed by the necessity of completing it following the Annual Meeting of the Association, which is held the last week in June, and which elects officers and approves appointments to Boards and Commissions to serve until the next Annual Meeting.

The personnel listed on Boards and Commissions are those in office for the period between Annual Meetings, June— June. In most instances, statistics and per- sonnel contained in the record of the Churches is for the current calendar year. Statistics related to mission giving through the National Association are produced from the records of the Association for the most recent fiscal year.

Since the Church statistics relate to varying time periods they cannot always be concisely correlated, but they do give a reasonably accurate picture of the nature of the Fellowship for an approximate one year period.

This issue of the YEARBOOK went to press on August 1, 1972. Every effort was made to incorporate last minute changes in pastorates, etc., but we express regret in advance for inadvertent omissions. The editing of the YEARBOOK is the biggest single clerical task confronting the Milwaukee office each year. Every effort is made, within the limitations of time, to make it as accurate as voluntary re- porting by Churches and local Associations allows.

This is the second year of publication in the present format. Every effort has been made to produce the material in keeping with the Articles of Association and Bylaws. We ask your patience, and your prompt and careful letter of correction, if you are aware of an error.

I wish to express a personal word of appreciation to Miss Roberta Paetow of our staff who assumed the painstaking task of supervising the production of this YEAR- BOOK from a mass of dissimilar materials.

With your help, and the increasing experience of our office in producing the YEARBOOK, successive years will find it an improved means of preserving the record of the Fellowship.

-JOHN H. ALEXANDER Executive Secretary

THE CHURCHES

of the

NATIONAL ASSOCIATION

Presented in three groupings:

MEMBER CHURCHES - Churches which have officially voted to join the National Association.

ASSOCIATE MEMBER CHURCHES - Churches which have voted to be

Associated with the National Association.

AFFILIATED ASSOCIATIONS - Associations that have voted to affiliate

with the National Association although some of their churches are not members.

The privileges of the various classifications are defined in the Articles of Association and By-Laws.

Notations:

Statistics contained are for the calendar year 1971 or for the most recent fiscal year of the member Church.

In the column "Minister's name, etc." any names below the line are those of ministers who are members of that Church, but are not serving on the Church Staff.

In the addresses the City or Town name and Zip code are not repeated except in cases where they are different.

Addresses for staff members and other ministers and lay people may be found in the Alphabetical Directory sections.

Code: (X) Indicates that a current report was not received from this

Church. Information repeated from 1971 Yearbook.

(-) Indicates that the information was not given in reports

from the Church. This symbol is used in NA columns if Church did not report finances in other categories.

(C) Before a figure indicates "approximate."

The information contained in this listing is as complete as possible as of August 1, 1972.
